Alan Lurty, MBA, RICP®, WCMP™, FLMI®

​

Alan is a proven senior executive in the insurance and financial services sector with a passion for
building companies into profitable industry leaders through new products, new markets and new
distribution. Most recently at M Financial Group as Vice President of Insurance Solutions during a
period of record sales, Alan’s career highlights include heading business and product development
for 9 years at ING/Voya Financial, where he spearheaded the development of industry-leading products,
increasing sales from 17,000 paid policies in 2005 to over 200,000 by 2009, building a new distribution
channel at ING to $45 million of sales within 3 years, and with P&L responsibility for Voya’s $100
million Affinity Markets division, increasing net income within the first year from $800,000 to more
than $3 million. Alan was also Chief Marketing Officer for SCOR Re and Chief Operating Officer for
Annuities at CNA Life. His significant experience includes developing the industry’s first modern
guaranteed level term plans and the first life product with wellness features.


Alan holds an MBA in finance and strategic planning from The Ohio State University, graduating first in
his class, and a Bachelor of Music in piano performance, summa cum laude, from Kent State University.
He has also participated in executive leadership programs at The Darden School of The University of
Virginia and other universities. His credentials include Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI®) with
distinction from the Life Office Management Association and both the Retirement Income Certified
Professional (RICP®) and Wealth Management Certified Professional (WMCP™) from The American
College of Financial Services.


He is an active community volunteer, including nearly 10 years on the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters
in the Philadelphia region, with roles as Executive Committee member and Chair of the Finance
Committee. Alan was a Big Brother for four years and is a current volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

Cary Carney, Vice President of Sales, Kuavre

Cary Carney serves as Vice President of Sales at Kuvare. Guaranty Income Life Insurance Company, a Kuvare company. He has more than 20 years of industry experience working with annuities and  life insurance where he held various sales and management positions with a Fortune 500 financial services company.

Paul Werlin, President, Human Capital Resources, Inc.

​

Paul A. Werlin founded Human Capital Resources, Inc. in 1995 to provide recruiting, consulting, training, expert witness and employee selection services specifically for the bank investment program channel. HCR has worked with over 200 banks, credit unions, broker/dealers, third-party marketing firms, mutual fund and insurance companies, helping them recruit key personnel for sales, marketing, technology, compliance and senior management positions. HCR also provides extensive consulting services, expert witness work and conducts original industry research covering such critical areas as compensation trends, product distribution and hiring/recruiting data.

 

Prior to HCR, Mr. Werlin spent more than 25 years in various senior management positions in the financial services industry. He was Executive Vice President, Investment Services Division and Corporate Treasurer and one of the original founders of INVEST, the first firm to provided securities services to banks.  After INVEST, he became President of United Pacific Financial Services, Inc., the b/d arm of United Pacific Life Insurance Co.
(a wholly-owned subsidiary of Reliance Group Holdings, Inc.), and was an Executive Vice President at Wall Street Investor Services, helping them secure the American Banker's Association endorsement for third-party brokerage services to their members. He was also an Executive Vice President for Raymond James' Robert Thomas Securities Financial Institution Division.

 

A frequent author and public speaker on the distribution of financial products and services, Paul's articles have been published by Bank Investment Representative, Bank Investment Marketing, Community Banker, Bank Securities Journal, American Banker, and Registered Representative Magazine and he has been quoted in The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. He has spoken at annual conferences for the American Bankers Association, Bank Securities Association, Financial Institutions Insurance Association, Securities Industry Association, Bank Insurance and Securities Association the Structured Products Association and others.

 

Mr. Werlin received his BS in Microbiology from University of Massachusetts, Amherst and his MBA in Finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University. He holds FINRA series 4, 7, 8, 15, 24, 53, and 63.

Michele is a seasoned professional. Holding senior-level positions with industry leaders like State Farm Insurance, Reliance and ING, she developed a comprehensive knowledge of the financial choices available. Michele started her own practice in 2008 to work directly with individuals and business owners to create real solutions to practical, financial challenges. She guides her clients to establish efficient tax, wealth and protection plans. She helps business owners create strategies to maintain their business income with succession, retirement, key employee and estate planning.

 

Michele and her husband Tom, with daughters Ali and Amanda, are long-time residents of Chester County. Michele is an avid runner, enjoys cycling and going to the gym. Reading is a favorite pastime and she especially loves spoiling her grand dog, Gavin. A proponent of supporting her community, Michele has served on many prominent boards in Chester County. An advocate of empowering women, she is an active member of many organizations throughout the Philadelphia region. Michele is involved with the Main Line Chamber of Commerce’ Society of Professional Women (SPW) as a Diamond Sponsor; Alliance of Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) and Exton Chamber of Commerce.

 

After losing her father to an extended illness when she was 15, Michele witnessed the importance of planning for unexpected financial events. She has the ability to help people feel comfortable with their financial choices, helping to ensure long term success, achievement and enjoyment.
